Oh my gosh, this is so relevant to me.  I grew up reading anything I could get my hands on.  I had a college reading level in the fifth grade - and most of the time i’d try to use words i had only read - i knew the word, I knew what it meant, but sometimes I’d say it wrong because I learned to read phonetically. 

Encourage your kids, don’t be an ass.
